Given the unique nature of CMS, many would-be students wonder what can be done with a CMS degree. The answer can be found by looking to our alumni. Among other things, CMS alums have gone on to do the following:

  • Teach. Many of our alumni have gone on to earn their Ph.D.s and teach. In the fall of 2007, our first CMS alum landed a tenure-track faculty position.
  • Work in video games. CMS alumni are currently working as game designers, producers, and executives at a number of game studios including Electronic Arts, Activision and Midway.
  • Work in film and television. Chances are good that you’ve seen the work of CMS alumni on-screen in the last few years. CMS alums have worked on blockbuster films, on TV shows like Blade, in special effects workshops including Peter Jackson’s WETA Workshop, and at networks and channels including Nickelodeon, Discovery and NBC. CMS alums have also directed and produced their own award-winning films, worked for advertising firms, and produced websites for film and TV projects.
  • Work in technology or online. Many CMS alums have gone on to work as producers, programmers, designers, information architects, writers and executives for a number of dotcoms and other technology-related companies.
